Accra City Tour:
W.E.B. DuBois Center
Kwame Nkrumah Memorial
Black Star Square

During the trip, we will pass through scenic villages and travel through evergreen forests. On the way, we will stop at Assin Manso, where the mortal remains of two former slaves from the United States of America and Jamaica were re-interred in August 1998 during Ghana’s first Emancipation Day Celebration. You will also see the “Slave River” where captured Africans were washed before being confined in the Slave Castles to await shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean.

Visit the world’s heritage conservation centers of Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle, where many Africans left their shores to work on sugar cane and tobacco plantations in the Americas & Caribbean Islands, where a labor force was needed, thereby creating the world’s largest Diaspora.

Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rain forests, covers a total area of 350 sq km with its unique canopy walkway suspended over seven bridges and 30 meters above the forest floor. Learn about the different types of trees and their medicinal uses. We will take lunch at Hans cottage where we can watch the cottage crocks as well.

We will drive to Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom and the seat of the Ashanti King, to obtain firsthand information about the legacies and history of the Ashanti Kingdom.

We will relax and enjoy the sandy resort beach hotel.

We will perform a traditional naming ceremony for our brothers and sisters from the Diaspora. All participants will be given an African name and certificates. After the ceremony, Afodat will entertain us and take us through traditional drumming and dance lessons.

This museum, located in the heart of Bonwire, the birthplace of Kente weaving, takes you on a journey through its origins, significance, and the artistry that makes the Kente cloth world-famous.
